Is it possible to put to male rats together?

I am considering getting a pet rat, a male one but when I heard they live better in pairs I was wondering if two males could live together and not fight..?Is it possible to put to male rats together?
Yes you can and it isn't difficult at all like someone else mentioned. Rats are naturally social creatures and love the company of other rats. It is most easiest to put them together when they are young and you get them at the same time. If you are planning on buying from a pet store then it is even more easier because the males have already been living together and should get a long just wonderful.

If you are getting them at different times I would recommend not putting the one you get first in their permanent cage and instead introduce them to their new home that they will share together so no rats feel territorial.

Good luck!!!Is it possible to put to male rats together?
Yes but it is difficult. Your best bet would be to buy 2 male rats from the same breeder that have already been kept together because they already see each other as part of the same pack. If you get one and then a second one later they will fight violently but its important to realize that even the 2 rats from my first ';already from the same pack'; scenario will still fight frequently for the dominant role and so will the females... BUT these fights are not to injure, they are just to secure the dominant role.

Two strange male rats will fight to injure, to protect his turf.
Sure. You can adopt brothers, or males who are kept together with no problem. Also, as long as introductions are done correctly you can keep males together. We've intro'd males over 2 yrs old to pups with no problem.

Since you haven't adopted yours yet, it would be quicker %26amp; easier to get brothers or cage mates. There is a small chance that 1 or both *may* develop hormonal aggression by about 1 yr of age, but this has *never* happened with our males %26amp; if it did we'd simply have the aggressive guy neutered.

Good luck with your little guys when you get them.
Yes, it is VERY possible. I have many male rats living together, and as long as you introduce them properly there are no problems.

It is true that male introductions can be harder then female, but it's not impossible. Sometimes you will get a male that is hormonal and more aggressive, but a simple neutering will fix that problem.
Absolutely. I just put two male rats together today. My oldest is probably around 4 months and my newest is probably about 2 months. I only own the two and they are doing fine so far. There has been no fighting or anything. The only problem I have had was that the oldest peed on the youngest. But after I cleaned him up they were both fine.
of course they can,

especially if you get two brothers...

but even rats who aren't related can get along...

it just depends on the personalities of the rats and if you follow certain steps to introduce them.

also... good on you for getting two! rats are usually happier in pairs :)
Yes of course! Male rats do great together. But, you should look up introducing rats because if they aren't from the same family they may fight. Have them meet in neutral territory so that one doesn't get protective. I wish you luck with your ratties:)
Yes, actually they will be much happier with more than one :)
absolutely
yer two males r cool just don't add a female they will fight over it
of course!
