If you are trying to get rid of them take away the reason they are there....food and shelter. Make sure that you have no holes or entry ways for them to come into your house.





We have desert rats, I have to go around every couple of days and fill in the holes that they dug. Make sure that there is no food source like the plants they like to eat. Rats don't drink water they get it from what they eat.
Good luck- Like some of the other answers, depends on the rats. Some people have luck doing one thing, while others have luck doing something else. Best thing is keeping all your areas clear/clean, so they can't find anything to eat.
